Graduate Studies

Administrative/Research Support: Assist the Director of Graduate Studies with research and special projects. Assist the Graduate Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator with marketing/communication projects.

Primary duties include:

  • Collect and sort data for regular marketing activities
  • Assist director with research
  • Campus tours to prospective Graduate Students
  • Email communication to prospective Graduate Students
  • Other duties as assigned

Periodic duties include:

Skills|Knowledge|Abilities: Candidate preferred to have related studies in data analysis and skills including:

Library Services

Administrative/Research Support: To provide information and research assistance to students, faculty, and staff, while supporting the work of the reference librarians by creating or updating online research guides, assisting with outreach projects, or performing statistical analysis. 

Primary duties include:

  • Monitor the generic departmental email account
  • Consult with teaching librarians to schedule classes
  • Communicate with faculty members in a timely and professional manner
  • Prepare and post teaching lab schedules
  • Monitor handouts and worksheets, ordering more as needed
  • Keep statistics and perform analyses for annual reporting L3
  • Provide building tours for USI community members or visitors and provide introductory information sessions 

Periodic duties include:

  • Compile monthly or annual statistics
  • Assist librarians with special projects 

Applicant must currently be working towards a graduate degree at USI.

Skills|Knowledge|Abilities: Candidate must have customer service skills and prior library experience is a plus.

  • Skills: Information search (print or online)
  • Knowledge: Academic library databases, including discovery tools, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and/or Publisher)

Library Services

Administrative Support: To provide circulation services for scheduled evening and early morning hours, including clearing the building of patrons and closing the library. Regular hours are Sunday through Thursday nights, 10:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.

Primary duties include:

  • Monitor the building, perform security checks
  • Assist with basic reference questions, such as how to find information on research topics or assisting with Microsoft Office products
  • Monitor chat line
  • Provide assistance with printers, copier, university ID machine, scanners and microform readers
  • Clear the building and close the library

Periodic duties include:

  • Collect fines, write receipts
  • Emergency procedures training
  • Collect and assess data

Skills|Knowledge|Abilities: Candidate must have customer service skills, the ability to perform office work, supervise student employees and respond to a variety of patron requests.

Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education

Administrative/Research Support: To serve as the Communication Liason between the College and University.

Primary duties include:

  • Main contact for Pott College faculty to send story ideas, accomplishments, professional development and other highlights to University Communications.
    • This may include interviewing faculty and writing a press release or a short story.
  • Website and social media updates on a consistent basis
  • Organize Pott College newsletter
  • Assisting with event promotion and marketing opportunities
  • Additional duties as assigned

Student Development Programs & Student Activities

Administrative/Research Support: Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services for student organizations and student activities offered by the Student Development Programs and the University of Southern Indiana. Primary duties include:

  • Responsible for the activities and management of the Student Involvement Center, including student assistant supervision, facilities and resource management, allocation of space, promotion of services and administrative support in the office. This includes and open house.
  • Develop and implement organizational development programs for student organizations, student organization leaders, and faculty/staff advisors.
  • Work with the Assistant Director and Program Coordinator to manage programs related to Activities Programming Board, Homecoming and SpringFest.
  • Learn and market the EagleSync software to student organizations.
  • Create weekly student activities email newsletter for campus.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with the implementation of the Student Involvement Fair(s).
  • Aid in the facilitation of the student organization renewal process.
  • Develop resource material for student organizations, student leaders and faculty/staff advisors.
  • Assist in the supervision and coordination of the Cinema USI program.
  • Participate in all Student Development Programs staff meetings.
  • Participate in one on one meetings with supervisor.
  • Assist professional staff int he development of various programs, resources, or research as determined by departmental need.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Applicant must currently be working towards a graduate degree at USI. Leadership experience with student organizations preferred.

Skills|Knowledge|Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher).
  • Ability to work with and relate to a diverse public required.
  • Strong organizational, time management and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands in a setting of high student contract and interaction required.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills and ability to understand and communicate university policies. 

Frequent irregular or extended hours, including evening and weekends, may be necessary to complete departmental deadlines or during special programs and events. Local travel may be required.
